The Bare-Faced Truth about Midlife Women: a Celebration
When Professional Portrait Photographer and Founder of The Midlife Movement, Jo Blackwell, set out to show the beauty, strength and character of women 40 plus, without their make up, she never dreamed how the project would capture the imagination of so many.
Featured on the BBC News, and in magazines as far afield as Germany and Italy, 52 women braved the camera and more than 100 women sent no make-up selfies to be included in this book. The result is a collection of beautiful, black and white portraits accompanied by the women's own words about how they feel about their lives - and themselves - today.
114 selfies, women answering the call - tell me how you feel about growing older.
Want to see if your selfie made it into the book?
Scroll through the galleries below to see if your selfie is included. I know that some ladies had difficulty uploading. Some files were just too small for printing. Some ladies were clearly wearing make up. If you can't see yourself, please check your email to see if I have emailed you. If not, I am afraid your selfie probably didn't get through. I had a deluge after the Look East interview and they came from all directions - email, Facebook pages and personal messenger, instagram and other ways as well as the "official" form. I tried to be diligent, but it is feasible that I could have missed a message.
There will be limited print run of 100 signed hardback copies, so please order asap if you would like to reserve one!
